Why Copyblogger Is Killing Its Facebook Page - copyblogger
While sometimes, as William Faulkner said, you must kill all your darlings, a brand’s first responsibility is to know what’s useful to its audience.
We all might love Facebook for a wide variety of reasons, but that means jack if our audiences don’t interact with us on Facebook.
Meet people where they are, not where you think they are.
In many, if not most, of these apps, sign-up is different from what you’d see on the web. Instead of creating a user name and password, users today often only use their mobile phone number as the sign up and authentication mechanism. Apps then verify they’re in possession of the phone number entered via a SMS-based confirmation code.
Make it simple. AND realize how many people will have smartphones soon...
Twitter notes this on its developer site for Digits, adding that emerging markets today account for over 70% of the world’s mobile population. 300 million people are buying a smartphone this year in the U.S. and Europe, noted Twitter’s Michael Ducker, Digits Product Manager, on stage at Flight this afternoon.
“But if you’re not paying attention to emerging markets, you’re missing out on a lot more people,” he added. “There are 940 million phones – smartphones – that are going to be sold this year in emerging markets. That’s three times the market for your apps.”

Big brands can have fun and so can you. Learn from the big boys.
Love the notion of identifying your common conversion activities. Very powerful.
