How to Use This Module
The Indexing and Social SEO module gives you granular control over how search engines and social platforms interact with your individual pages, without requiring access to the HubSpot settings backend or custom code. This built-in module is particularly valuable for technology companies and SaaS businesses that need to manage complex content strategies across product pages, landing pages, and gated resources.
You’ll find this module most useful on pages where the default theme-wide SEO settings don’t fit your specific needs. For example, you might want to prevent search engines from indexing thank-you pages, internal tool pages, or draft content that’s live but not ready for public discovery. The social meta customization features are essential when you’re sharing pages that need specific Twitter Card layouts or Open Graph images that differ from your site’s default social sharing setup.
When working with the module, remember that changes you make here override any global settings configured in your HubSpot account or theme options. This means you can create page-specific exceptions without affecting your site-wide SEO strategy. The Twitter Card and Open Graph customizations are particularly powerful for campaign landing pages where you want to control exactly how your content appears when shared on social platforms.
Best practices: Use the indexing controls strategically rather than broadly – most pages should remain indexable unless there’s a specific reason to exclude them. For social meta, focus on pages that are likely to be shared, such as blog posts, case studies, and product announcements. The custom social meta fields accept standard Open Graph and Twitter Card properties, giving you the same level of control you’d have with custom HTML meta tags.
