How to Use This Feature
The Video component in the Rubric theme creates an elegant pop-up video experience that keeps visitors engaged without navigating away from your current page. This is particularly valuable for educational institutions showcasing campus tours, course previews, or faculty interviews, and for event organizers displaying promotional content or speaker highlights.
When you add this module to any page in the HubSpot page editor, you’ll configure three key elements that work together seamlessly. The Video Image serves as your clickable thumbnail – choose an eye-catching still frame or custom graphic that clearly represents your video content. This image appears inline with your page content and should be sized appropriately for your layout context.
The Caption group allows you to add descriptive text below your video thumbnail using the theme’s consistent text styling options. This helps with both accessibility and SEO, giving search engines context about your video content while providing visitors with clear expectations about what they’ll see when they click.
Your actual video content goes in the Video group, where you can embed content from YouTube, Vimeo, or other supported platforms through HubSpot’s video embed field. The Description field is particularly important for accessibility compliance – use it to link to video transcripts, provide text summaries of visual information, or include additional resources mentioned in your video.
This pop-up approach works exceptionally well on landing pages where you want to maintain conversion focus, blog posts where video supplements written content, and resource pages where multiple videos need organized presentation. The modal overlay keeps users engaged with your site while providing rich multimedia experiences that enhance your content strategy.
