Usage Guide
The Advanced field group provides you with powerful customization options that extend beyond the Rubric theme’s built-in styling controls. These fields are available across all modules in the theme, giving you consistent access to custom styling capabilities throughout your HubSpot pages.
When to use the ID field: This is particularly valuable for creating smooth scrolling navigation on long-form pages common in educational content. For example, you can set an ID like “course-overview” on a text module, then create navigation links that jump directly to that section. This works exceptionally well on program pages, event agendas, and resource libraries where users need to quickly navigate to specific content sections.
Maximizing the Classes field: The Rubric theme includes several utility classes you can leverage, such as spacing modifiers and color variants that complement the theme’s educational aesthetic. You can also add your own custom classes here to implement consistent styling patterns across multiple pages. This is especially useful when you’re managing content for different departments or programs that need unique visual treatments while maintaining the overall theme structure.
CSS field best practices: Use this for module-specific adjustments rather than site-wide changes, which should go in your theme’s CSS files. Common use cases include adjusting spacing for specific content layouts, adding custom hover effects to call-out modules, or fine-tuning typography for special announcements or featured content blocks.
Remember that changes made through these Advanced fields will override the theme’s default styling, so test your modifications across different device sizes using HubSpot’s preview options. These customizations are particularly powerful when combined with the Rubric theme’s content-first approach, allowing you to maintain clean, accessible designs while adding the specific functionality your educational or event content requires.
