Usage Guide
The Social Media Link module group is a versatile component in the Rubric theme that allows you to create consistent social media connections throughout your HubSpot site. This field group appears within various modules across the theme, ensuring your social media links maintain uniform styling and accessibility standards wherever they’re placed.
When configuring social media links in the HubSpot page editor, you’ll find this module group particularly useful for footer sections, contact pages, and author bio areas. The Service dropdown provides nine popular platform options, each automatically applying the appropriate brand icon and styling consistent with Rubric’s clean, educational aesthetic.
Best practices for implementation:
For the Link field, always use complete URLs including the protocol (https://) to ensure proper functionality. When linking to social profiles, use your organization’s main account URL rather than individual post links for better long-term stability.
The Accessible Label field is crucial for meeting accessibility standards that educational institutions often require. Write descriptive labels like “Follow our university on Facebook” or “Connect with us on LinkedIn” rather than generic text like “Facebook link.” This helps screen reader users understand exactly where the link will take them and reinforces your institution’s brand.
Consider grouping multiple social media links together using Rubric’s flexible section layouts. The theme’s drag-and-drop functionality makes it easy to create social media clusters in sidebars, headers, or dedicated contact sections. For educational institutions, prioritize platforms where your audience is most active—typically LinkedIn for professional programs, Instagram for campus life, and YouTube for educational content.
Remember to regularly audit these links through your HubSpot dashboard, as social media URLs can change when organizations rebrand or restructure their online presence.
