Usage Guide

The Blog Post Settings (Global) module serves as a centralized control panel for your Rubric theme’s blog functionality. Unlike typical drag-and-drop modules that you add to individual pages, this module acts as a global configuration tool that affects all blog posts across your HubSpot site simultaneously.

You’ll want to configure this module once during your initial theme setup, then revisit it periodically when you need to make site-wide adjustments to your blog’s appearance and functionality. The module is particularly valuable for education institutions and resource-heavy sites where maintaining consistent blog formatting across multiple authors and departments is crucial.

When configuring page settings, consider your blog’s primary purpose. The Header Type options give you flexibility to match your blog posts to your site’s overall design strategy. Choose “Default” for standard institutional blogs, “Landing” for promotional or event-focused posts, or “None” for minimal, content-focused layouts. The transparent header option works exceptionally well with the Rubric theme’s clean aesthetic, especially for featured posts with compelling hero images.

The Post Template Settings section is where you can streamline your blog’s user experience. For education-focused content, you might want to keep social sharing and sidebar elements to encourage engagement and cross-linking. However, for formal announcements or policy documents, removing these elements creates a more professional, document-like appearance.

Pay special attention to the Post Body Max Width setting — this directly impacts readability. Research suggests optimal line lengths for educational content fall between 45-75 characters, so adjust this value based on your typical font choices and target audience preferences. The spacing controls help maintain visual hierarchy, particularly important when your blog posts include multiple content types like embedded videos, downloadables, and call-to-action sections.
