Setting Up Password Protection

The System - Password Prompt template creates a secure gateway for your protected content, automatically appearing whenever visitors attempt to access password-protected pages on your HubSpot site. This template is essential for creating member-only resources, exclusive content areas, or draft pages that need restricted access before publication.

To configure this template, navigate to Website > Pages > System Pages in your HubSpot account and assign the Rubric password prompt template to your “Password prompt page” setting. Once configured, this template will automatically display whenever someone tries to access any page you’ve marked as password-protected through the page editor.

Customization and Branding

The Rubric password prompt template maintains your site’s visual consistency by using the same header structure as your landing pages, ensuring visitors don’t feel like they’ve left your website when encountering protected content. The Landing Header Version 1 configuration provides a clean, professional appearance that aligns with educational and institutional branding standards.

You can customize the password prompt experience through the theme’s global settings and the System - Password Prompt partial. This allows you to modify messaging, adjust styling to match your brand colors, and add institutional logos or security messaging that builds trust with your users.

Best practices for password-protected pages: Use descriptive page titles that hint at the protected content’s value, keep passwords memorable but secure, and consider creating a dedicated page that lists available protected resources for authenticated users. The template works seamlessly with HubSpot’s built-in password protection features, requiring no additional setup beyond the initial system page configuration.
