How to Use This Template
The Search Results template is automatically activated when visitors use your site’s search functionality, making it a critical component for user experience and content discoverability. Unlike other page templates in the Rubric theme, you won’t edit this template directly through the page editor—instead, it’s configured through your HubSpot portal’s system pages settings.
When setting up this template, navigate to Website > Pages > System Pages in your HubSpot account and assign the “System - Search Results” template to your search results page. This ensures that all search queries on your site will display results using Rubric’s structured, education-focused design language.
The template excels for content-heavy sites because it leverages the System - Search Results global partial, which formats search results in a clean, scannable layout that works particularly well for educational resources, event listings, and knowledge base articles. The structured presentation helps visitors quickly identify relevant content from their search queries.
Customization options are handled through the Page Settings module, where you can control the header transparency to match your site’s visual hierarchy. With the header transparency disabled by default, search results pages maintain clear navigation visibility—important when users are actively seeking specific information.
For optimal performance, ensure your site’s content includes descriptive meta titles and descriptions, as these elements directly impact how search results appear in this template. The Rubric theme’s content-first approach means search results will prominently display these metadata elements, making well-optimized content essential for a professional search experience.
Consider testing your search functionality regularly, especially after adding new content types or restructuring your site’s information architecture.
