How to Use the Pillar Template
The Pillar template is specifically designed for creating authoritative, long-form content that serves as the cornerstone of your topic clusters in HubSpot’s SEO strategy. Unlike standard blog post templates, the Pillar template includes specialized modules that enhance reader engagement and content navigation for comprehensive guides, ultimate resources, and in-depth educational content.
When you create a new page using the Pillar template, you’ll notice it comes pre-loaded with essential modules for content marketing success. The Table of Contents and Progress Bar modules work together to help visitors navigate lengthy articles and track their reading progress, which can significantly improve time-on-page metrics. These features are particularly valuable for pillar pages that typically exceed 3,000 words.
The template’s Hero module is optimized for showcasing your pillar topic with compelling headlines and supporting visuals, while the built-in Social Share functionality makes it easy for readers to amplify your content across platforms. You can customize the hero section through the page editor to include background images, video, or gradient overlays that align with your brand.
For content organization, leverage the Callout Box and Icons with Text modules to break up large text blocks and highlight key takeaways. The Testimonials Slider works exceptionally well in pillar content to provide social proof and expert opinions that support your comprehensive coverage of the topic.
To maximize SEO performance, configure the Schema module with Article or FAQPage markup, and ensure your Indexing and Social SEO settings include relevant topic cluster keywords. The CTA Box V2 modules should guide readers toward related cluster content or conversion opportunities, creating a seamless content journey that supports both user experience and lead generation goals.
