How to Use This Module

The Indexing and Social SEO module gives you granular control over how search engines and social media platforms interact with your individual pages in the Traverse theme. Unlike global SEO settings that affect your entire HubSpot site, this module allows you to customize search visibility and social sharing behavior on a page-by-page basis.

You’ll find this module most useful on specific page types where default SEO behavior isn’t ideal. For example, you might want to prevent search engines from indexing thank-you pages, draft product showcases, or internal landing pages used exclusively for email campaigns. Similarly, you can enhance social sharing for key pages like product launches or promotional content by adding custom Twitter Card and Open Graph metadata that overrides your theme’s default social settings.

When configuring the indexing options, consider your page’s purpose in your overall content strategy. Pages with duplicate content, thin content, or those serving as conversion confirmations typically benefit from noindex settings. The nofollow link option is particularly valuable for pages containing affiliate links or external references that you don’t want to endorse from an SEO perspective.

For social media optimization, the custom Twitter Card and Open Graph fields allow you to craft platform-specific messaging that may differ from your page’s standard meta description. This is especially powerful for e-commerce and product showcase pages in the Traverse theme, where you can highlight different product benefits for social audiences versus search engine users.

Since this is a built-in module, you won’t see it in the main drag-and-drop interface. Instead, access it through the Contents tab in your page editor sidebar, where it appears alongside other page-level settings. Changes take effect immediately upon publishing, so you can quickly test different social sharing configurations across your product pages and promotional content.
