Two HubSpot sites for Picerno-Giordano Construction, written and built in four months
The Customer
Picerno-Giordano Construction has been in business for 50 years. Its sister brand, SurePlay, sells playground equipment, surfacing material and sporting goods, including the SRP Playgrounds line.
The two businesses came to Lynton in February 2024 with very little web presence. Picerno-Giordano did not actively market itself, and the blog on its site had been quiet for some time. The SurePlay site was barely used. Neither brand had brand guidelines.
The Challenge
The client wanted two things. The first was a portfolio site for the construction company that explained what it does and showed the technology it works with. The second was a rebranded SurePlay site that could sell the equipment line and point buyers back to SRP Playgrounds.
The client had one worry about the copy. The company does more than build playgrounds, and she wanted visitors to understand the full range of what it does.
The budget was for a fixed implementation package, with pages built from the theme’s standard modules. The job was to get two credible sites written, built and live without a design phase or custom development.
The Solution
We set both sites up as two child themes on the Spark Premium theme. Each site got its own global styles, logo and colors, so the two brands look distinct.
Copy came first. We ran an interview with the client covering both companies, then a working session with paper wireframes to settle what each page needed to say. From that we wrote up to six pages of copy across the two sites and took each draft through client review and a round of revisions.
The SurePlay site is three pages, Home, About and Products, built from the theme’s stock modules. The Picerno-Giordano copy explains what the company does and, at the client’s request, covers the machinery and equipment it owns and uses on site, including its Trimble positioning system. We moved the dormant blog into the platform as well, so the posts sit in one place and the client can decide later which to publish and which to archive.
Both sites went through user acceptance testing against a workbook before launch. We defined the redirects, wrote the launch process document, connected the domains and set up the system pages. The Picerno-Giordano site went live in June 2024, and we worked with the client to connect the SurePlay domain on her free HubSpot account. We closed with a one-hour training session for the client and a set of knowledge base documentation.
What They Got
Picerno-Giordano Construction now has a site that explains the company, its 50 years in business and the equipment it brings to a job. SurePlay has a three-page product site that sends buyers to the SRP Playgrounds range.
Both sites are in HubSpot where the client can edit them, with training done and documentation to refer to. The old blog posts are preserved in the platform.
Wrapping Up
Our standard on a fixed package is the same as on a large build. Copy is written from an interview with the people who know the business, every page is tested before launch, and the client is trained to run the site when we hand it over.
