Friday Fails: Companies That Believe SEO Crap

Friday Fails: Companies That Believe SEO CrapIt's crazy that there are still companies out there that believe these ridiculous SEO lies. SEO is a huge part of your online presence, but it is something that takes time, knowledge, and hard work. Check out this week's Friday Fails episode to find out some of the SEO lies companies believe and what the truth really is.

Hey everyone! Happy Friday and welcome back to another edition of Friday Fails. My name is Jennifer and this week we are going to talk about companies that are still believing all of this SEO crap.

This is quite frustrating so I brought along a little glass of wine in my HubSpot wine glass. So, grab a beer, grab a glass of wine, kick your feet up, and let's relax and talk about companies that are still believing in this SEO crap.

So one of the first fails that we see are companies that actually believe that they can pay these really sketch companies $10,000 to rank their website #1 on Google.

Let me just break it down for you. There's no way that's happening. You could pay them 100 grand, even pay 100 grand to Google, and they wouldn't put you at the top. There's just no shortcuts, it takes a lot of work, and if you fell for that trap, I don't think you're getting your money back.

Another fail that we see are companies that actually believe that the SEO work that they do will take affect in a day.

The truth is that it could take months for this really to take affect. It really takes a lot of patience, hard work, and it's not going to happen overnight.

Friday Fails: Companies That Believe SEO Crap

A third fail that we see are companies that actually believe keyword stuffing works.

They think keyword stuffing will help their SEO, and it will take them to the top of Google and they will live happily ever after with 20,000 clients and a bajillion dollars. The truth is that keyword stuffing does not work. It's going to make your content terrible and no one is going to want to read it, so people will get off of your page.

For example, if we had this on our website, I think we would have quite a lot less visitors:

"LyntonWeb, a Houston inbound web agency is the best Houston inbound marketing web agency in the land for all of your inbound web and marketing needs. Contact LyntonWeb, the Houston inbound marketing web agency. LyntonWeb. Houston. Inbound web. Marketing. LyntonWeb. Queso. HubSpot. Marketing. LyntonWeb."

I don't think so. Just doesn't work that way.

So of course we have some fixes for these fails:

  1. You need to be realistic. You aren't going to make it to the top of Google in a day or two, if ever.  So, be a little more realistic when you're working on SEO.
  2. You have to actually do the work. Write blogs, your advanced content, newsletters, emails, all around and related to your buyer persona with targeted keywords. Do not keyword stuff and just make sure that you're writing to that buyer persona and you're not just trying to cheat the SEO system.
  3. Remember to be patient. It can take months to see any improvements in your SEO so don't give up and just keep fighting the good SEO fight!
  4. Finally, if you need anymore help, make sure that you have a powerful inbound marketing tool (like HubSpot). Also make sure you have a legitimate, reputable inbound marketing company with experience and knowledge (like LyntonWeb). That way that company can help you with any of your SEO needs and questions.

So I think that's it! Thanks for tuning in to this week's episode of Friday Fails and hope to see you next week! Until next time, cheers!
