The renewal ramp
Direction measured, magnitude assumed (🟡): what the audit shows about discounts at renewal:
custom discounts typically erode ~5 percentage points per renewal (55->50->45, 40->35->30, 30->25->20).
Price Migration discounts and 10-25% annual-payment discounts generally persist.
- 58%/50% custom discounts collapse to 25%/15% at renewal → ARR ~doubles
- all discounts drop at once → +49% at renewal ($67K → $111K)
- Entrepreneur discount 30% year 1 → 15% at renewal
- EUR enterprise stack eroding from ~E67K → E102K over renewals
12 of 142 paying accounts (~8%, ~$502K ARR) cancelling or downgrading at next renewal.
The observed price catalog
Median observed prices by hub and tier, validated against HubSpot's published list. Starter rows are small samples (n ≤ 7) and are excluded — treat published Starter list prices as the reference there:

Methodology
All figures are computed by a reproducible script from anonymized subscription and billing records collected through Lynton's sixteen years inside the HubSpot partner ecosystem. No customer names, domains, or account IDs exist in this dataset — aggregates only. Dollar figures are USD, annual, list price unless noted; 7 non-USD accounts are excluded from dollar aggregates so currency mixing can't distort unit prices. Because billing frequency is mixed, ACV is reported in three lenses rather than one false-precise number. This is a living dataset — it grows as companies run their real subscriptions through the HubSpot TCO Calculator, and the figures here regenerate with it.
- 🟢 Measured — computed from the records; several figures validated against HubSpot's published list.
- 🟡 Direction measured, magnitude assumed — the renewal-erosion rate is the audit's qualitative finding, unverifiable from a single snapshot; treat the ~5-point rule as a documented default, not a law.
- ⚪ Judgment — anything beyond these tables (stack comparisons, recommendations) lives in the articles and tools, not in this dataset.
Questions this dataset answers
- How much of a discount do companies actually get on HubSpot?
- Across 144 USD accounts with discount data, the median company signs at 35.5% below list price and the portfolio runs 41.8% under list in aggregate. Only 4 of 144 accounts pay full list price; 57 (about 40%) negotiated at least 40% off.
- What happens to HubSpot discounts at renewal?
- Negotiated "custom" discounts — the largest savings bucket — typically erode about 5 percentage points at each renewal, while grandfathered price-migration and annual-payment discounts generally hold. In this book, 12 of 142 paying accounts (~8%, ~$502K ARR) were cancelling or downgrading at their next renewal.
- What is the most common extra line item on a HubSpot bill?
- Additional marketing-contact packs. Pricing is tiered, not linear: small packs run roughly $500–600 per 1,000 contacts, large packs roughly $100 per 1,000 — the observed median is $115 per 1,000.
