Can I Use the Theme I Purchased in Multiple Portals?
HubSpot prevents directly cloning, downloading, and copying of all files downloaded from their Template Marketplace.
If you are interested in using a theme in multiple portals, you can purchase a ‘license’ from our Marketplace, which provides a zip file that can be uploaded to any portal(s). Note that themes purchased outside of HubSpot’s Template Marketplace are not eligible for receiving updates.
Understanding Multi-Portal Theme Licensing
When you purchase a theme directly from HubSpot’s Template Marketplace, the platform automatically restricts that theme to the specific portal where you made the purchase. This limitation exists because HubSpot treats marketplace themes as single-use licenses tied to your account and portal combination. You won’t be able to export the theme files or transfer them to another HubSpot portal, even if you own multiple accounts.
Why Choose a Multi-Portal License?
If you manage multiple HubSpot portals—whether for different brands, subsidiaries, or client accounts—purchasing individual licenses for each portal can become costly. Our marketplace licenses solve this by providing you with the actual theme files as a downloadable zip package. You can then upload these files through HubSpot’s design manager to any portal where you need the theme.
Important Considerations for Licensed Themes
Keep in mind that themes purchased as licenses operate differently from marketplace themes in terms of updates. While HubSpot automatically pushes updates to themes purchased through their marketplace, licensed themes require manual updating. You’ll need to download new versions from our marketplace and re-upload them to your portals when updates become available.
Setting Up Your Licensed Theme
Once you upload your licensed theme files to a new portal, you’ll have full access to all theme settings, custom modules, and page templates through HubSpot’s page editor. The drag-and-drop functionality works identically to marketplace themes, and you can customize colors, fonts, and other theme settings through the design manager. This gives you complete control over maintaining consistent branding across multiple portals while working within each portal’s unique content strategy.
